Get started

In the Roadie road trip planner app you can plan routes with multiple stops. This is a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

1. Search for places

Use the search field in the top of the map view to search for places. You can enter addresses, names of cities or places like restaurants or camp grounds.

The search will start suggesting results as soon as you start typing. You can select a result directly from the list by tapping on it.

2. Add places to your route

After you selected a place from the search results you can add it to your route by tapping the green 'Add to route' button.

3. Search in a map area

To search for categories like campsites, hotels or pizza places you can use the search and tap on the first search result.

We also added some shortcut buttons below the search field to quickly search for results in the map area.

The results will be presented as markers in the map. You can tap on a marker to select it.

4. Rearrange and edit your route

By tapping the list button in the top right corner of the map you can open the list view of your route. Here you can rearrange or delete stops from your route.

5. See driving times and distances

In the list view you can see the overall distance and approximate driving time for your route and for each leg of your trip.

6. Navigate to a stop

You can select stops in your route by tapping on them in the list view or in the map view. The place details will then show up in the map view and you can select 'Navigate' to start navigating to this place with Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze or Sygic.

7. Manage multiple routes

You can create and manage multiple routes in Roadie. To Manage your routes tap on 'My Routes' in the list view. In the 'My Routes' view you can create new routes or edit and delete your existing routes. To select any of your routes from this list just tap on it.

8. Collect starred places

When you plan trips it can be useful to store interesting places without adding them to your route right away. This is what Starred Places are for in Roadie. To save a place in your Starred Places just tap 'Star' in the place detail view on the map. It will be added to your list of Starred Places which you can view by tapping the star button in the top right corner. Starred places appear as starred marker icons on your map, too.

9. Group your routes into sections

You can group your route into sections. For example, you can divide your route into days or travel segments. Tap 'Add route section' in the list view of your route. Then give your section a name and tap 'Save'. The section will be appended to the end of your trip. You can drag it up to include some of your route stops in it.

10. Add notes, photos and dates

You can add photos, dates and notes to your stops and starred places and change the title of a place.

Just tap anywhere on the place details, enter your data and press save.

11. Export and import GPX

You can save your routes to GPX and also import GPX routes to your routes.

To export open the list view of your route, press on “Share & Print” and choose “Save as GPX”.

To import go to the profile section within the app, tap on “Import route” and choose the GPX file you want to import.

12. Share and print your route

To be able to share or print your route we create a website version of your route. It shows the course of the route on the map, the key metrics over all and between stops and your custom added data for every date.

To open the web view open the list view of your route, press on “Share & Print” and select “Print or share Route”.

13. Plan together

You can plan a route together with your friends or family.

To send an invite link to the route open the list view of your route, press “Share & Print” and select “Invite & manage members”. When you press “Share invite link” you can send it via massaging app or email to your travel mates.
